I always liked the Doobie Brothers better BEFORE Michael McDonald joined the band. They were guitar heavy and certainly Rock and Roll! I thought they went downhill after Tom Johnston left the band. Still when I saw them live for the first time in 1977, it was one of the best concerts Ive ever seen.
